How to Rise Above a Victim Mindset

You are not your past. Your results to date are a result of your past but you are not your results. You are simply this moment, and this moment is an infinite possibility. Therefore, you are an infinite possibility.

You don't become your choices. Your results are a result of your choices. You are and forever will remain the vessel through which the opportunity to choose and decide lives.

So, while you are not your choice, in that you can always choose differently, you are a representative of your choices. You are a representative not only to the world but, more importantly, to yourself. With each choice, you announce who you think you are. You either announce "I represent someone who is a victim" or you announce "I represent someone who is an evolver".

A victim announces they have no power, are at the mercy of circumstances, and seek escape through avoidant and numbing activities and substances. An evolver announces they are powerful, eager, and willing seekers and students of life, shedding old habits, behaviors, beliefs, and attitudes no longer serving them and incorporating new knowledge and insight to propel them through circumstances.

Life is a series of challenges, and with each challenge, you have two choices, you can participate, or you can bow out. It may appear that your simplest choice is to bow out and admit defeat, but it isn't because you cannot hide from life's challenges. Challenges make you stronger and wiser, preparing you to face and conquer greater challenges. When you bow out of participating in the challenges of life, your courage, resolve, values, and capacity weaken, and in a weakened state, everything becomes a challenge. It becomes a challenge to simply engage in life. In a weakened state, just waking up and brushing your teeth might be a challenge.

When you participate in life's challenges, you enter a state of acceptance, an inherent state of strength. You accept there is a challenge before you and, in so doing, also accept there is a way through the challenge even though you cannot see it. In accepting the challenge, you test and strengthen your foundations. Your courage, resolve, values, and capacity strengthen. In a state of strength, you don't sweat the small stuff. In a state of strength, your challenges are less about you and more about your contribution. In accepting, you welcome in learning and you welcome in grace. Learning is increasing knowledge of self. Grace is the all-knowing, all-seeing divine working through you.

Life is not about victory, it's about harmony, harmony between human capacity to evolve and divine grace to uplift.
